Smarter Transfer Orders: More Accurate Inventory, End-to-End

We’ve made some powerful updates to Transfer Orders in Galley — giving you even more control over how inventory moves between locations.

Whether you're shipping house-made products from a commissary or redistributing vendor items across kitchens, Transfer Orders are now fully integrated with Galley’s inventory and production systems. These updates ensure every transfer has a clear impact on both the sending and receiving sides of your operation.

Here’s what’s new — and how it helps you stay even more connected, consistent, and confident across locations.

What’s New

With this release, Transfer Orders now:

  • Deplete inventory at the source location as soon as the order is shipped

  • Create receiving events at the destination location to reflect what's been delivered

  • Automatically impact theoretical inventory levels across both ends of the transfer

  • Support vendor items and recipes, so you can transfer both purchased and produced goods

  • Connect seamlessly to production, enabling transferred items to be consumed in recipes

Together, these updates turn each transfer into a clear, traceable inventory event — without the need for manual adjustments or disconnected workflows.

Inventory Moves That Actually Move Inventory

The key upgrade? Transfer Orders now tie directly into your theoretical inventory. That means every transfer you make in Galley has real weight — just like purchases, salesusage, or production runs.

  • Send goods out: Inventory levels decrease at the sending location

  • Receive goods in: Inventory levels increase at the receiving locatio

  • Track it all: Everything is timestamped, location-specific, and tied to your actual items

It’s inventory movement that reflects real movement.

Transferred Items in Production

One important detail: if you’re transferring a vendor item and want to use it in production at the destination, that item needs to be linked to an ingredient at that location. This ensures your recipes pull from the right inventory and keep your theoreticals clean and accurate.

More Visibility, Less Guesswork

With these updates, Transfer Orders are more than just records of what was sent — they’re part of your real-time inventory picture. That means:

All without changing the way you already use Galley.

Already Using Transfer Orders? Here’s What to Expect

If you’re already creating Transfer Orders in Galley, you can enable this functionality through the Transfer Order Receiving company setting. Transfers you make will then directly update inventory levels and theoreticals — giving you a clearer view of stock across all your locations.

No new workflows to learn. Just more power behind the ones you already use.
